Vision

I like excuses. It makes me feel better if I can blame someone or something for my lack of motivation or failure. But when I take a long hard look in the mirror, I know that it’s really up to me.

Time is always a good excuse. There’s never enough of it. But really there is. It’s what you do with your time, what choices you make. And if you want to accomplish something, well, you will have to make choices with your time. You have to schedule time to do the things you need to move towards your goals. It might be hard, but in the end…when you get where you are going, then it will have been worth it.

So what’s your excuse? Maybe you don’t even know why you aren’t reaching your goals. Maybe it’s a lack of focus? Or maybe it’s that you don’t know the steps to take?

So first…you have to create a vision. Yep, it may sound silly but you need to see…or really you need to feel. When you tie a goal to something that makes you feel…passionate, determined, but tie it to the feeling you’ll get when you reach it…like maybe peace, or joy, or healthy, or strong. And then create your vision, not just in your head, but on paper or electronic that you can see every day. Maybe you want to pay off debt…create a picture of how you will feel when that happens. Or maybe you want to lose 30 pounds. Don’t show a supermodel, but a picture of how you will feel. Or use words for those feelings. But if you don’t write it down and picture it, it’s merely a dream.

Of course just having the vision won’t make it happen, but without a vision there is no purpose for the goals. So create your vision, put it in front of you and feel it. This is how great things happen.
